Project: Brown Memorial Bench

Drawing inspiration from the pinecone– both in its geometry and symbolism– this bench celebrates the Brown family’s generational history. The commemorative bench is whimsical and unexpected, serving as a refreshing alternative to a headstone. The piece is made from plasma cut steel and glass fiber reinforced concrete tiles. Together, these two materials mimic the structure and delicacy of the pinecone but with an enduring life span. Most of the concrete scales have an indentation where a family member’s plaque may sit.
